 Milana Aleksandrovna Vayntrub is an American actress, comedian and activist. After emigrating to America her birthplace was in the Soviet Union to Jewish parents. Her first professional work was as an actress in her early years as a child. Her appearances as Lily Adams in AT&T TV commercials from 2013 until 2016 - and in 2020 - have made her famous. She also was a regular series regular on the Yahoo! Screen science fiction show Other Space (2015). She also starred in the role of a regular character on the NBC drama This Is Us (2016)-2017. Vayntrub was initially chosen to play the character Squirrel Girls in Marvel Rising's unaired pilot for New Warriors in 2018, has been voiced that role since. Vayntrub was Jewish born in Tashkent, Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic. Her parents and she fled antisemitism at the age of two. They moved to West Hollywood. Her family's financial troubles caused her to be a part of Mattel Barbie commercials from the age of five. Vayntrub went to Beverly Hills High School briefly and then was kicked out of the school after her sophomore year. Then, she earned a GED and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication at the University of California, San Diego. As part of the Upright Citizens Brigade she studied improv comedy.

Joe (1970) was selected for auditions in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, an actor who had been trained for the role, was ostracized.
